Whether you like dehydrated fruits, meat or vegetables – you can’t go wrong with Excalibur 3900! There’s plenty of tasty and healthy dishes that you can prepare with a single push of a button (home-grown vegetable soup, dried oranges, tomatoes, peaches, prunes…) Maybe you want to squeeze out the tasty beef jerky sauce and pour it over an apple drying in the bottom tray?
Your creativity is your only limit!
So, how does it work?
Depending on the model, it can contain five or nine rectangle trays which are aligned horizontally one above other, in a tower-like construction. Most other dehydrators have a circular shape, and the heat is spreaded radiantly outwards from a small hole in the center of the tray. The motor is situated beneath the trays, sending the heat spirally upwards (through the tray holes). This can be a very bad idea because the juices from the food eventually reach the motor and slowly but surely – shorten its life expectancy…
Excalibur 2900 and 3900 compared
If you are concerned about drying larger chunks of food in such a tight space – you shouldn’t be. You can simply remove any number of trays needed to make the necessary space. The trays are also very easy to clean because they are made of polycarbonate plastic.
Excalibur 3900 is equipped with a built-in thermostat, which operates in a range between 85 and 145 degrees Fahrenheit. This means you don’t have to constantly watch the food – you can just set it and forget it!
The product comes in both white and black version. The only difference is – the white unit costs $10 more. Why? – Probably due to aesthetic reasons.

Although it is acknowledged as one of the best in its class, there are also some downsides to Excalibur Dehydrator 3900. For example, it can be hard for individuals to find a suitable place for such a large object. Moreover, some people complain that it generates too much noise while active… However, all these complaints can’t possibly top the quality and reliability of this product.
If you decide to buy this dehydrator, you will get a 1-year warranty with an option of extended, 10-year warranty!
